Fishy News from the Warrnambool Fur Life Vet team.
Meet Jeff! When Jeff was purchased he was only 2cm long and cost just $1. He’s not your average patient, but that doesn’t make him any less loved or important! We were thrilled to be able to help him!
Jeff’s dad was worried about a mass that had been growing on his eye which was getting quite big. We decided that the mass that was attached to his eye needed to be removed, but this could only be achieved by removing the entire eye also!
Dr. Linda and nurse Meg anaesthetised Jeff in one tank, and when he was asleep moved him to the surgery table where his eye was quickly removed. Meg continued to flush water over his gills during the procedure, he received pain-relief and was then placed in a recovery tank until he woke up from the anaesthetic.
Jeff has recovered well from his big surgery and is back in his tank with all his fishy friends, who hopefully won’t mind that he’s blind in one eye! Jeff has recovered well from his big surgery and is back in his tank with all his fishy friends, who hopefully won’t mind that he’s blind in one eye!
